Croatian customs in Scandinavia/Hrvatski običaji u Skandinaviji

I already wrote in one of the earlier articles that I don't like being a tourist and traveling with the aim of just visiting and seeing new places. My trips are most often motivated by people, and that's why I decide on them more easily when I go to visit one of my dear friends. If that visit to friends coincides with new and interesting places, then even better and it recharges my internal batteries.

So, this time I wanted to see where my friend Baćo lives and works, in the Danish city of Helsingǿr. Baćo is my childhood friend with whom I share ancient memories of youthful mischief and first sins. Many years ago we started smoking together, back then it was in secret. In the meantime, he stopped smoking a long time ago, while I fought with that demon from my youth much longer.

When we were young, my Baćo took school much less seriously than I did as I focused on achieving academic success. Despite this, he is today a very successful businessman in Denmark, where he has lived for almost three decades. He is a person of great energy and magnetism with which he attracts people and quickly and easily gathers friends around him. That's how it was this time again. During this visit, my brother and other childhood friend from Croatia also came, so Baćo took us to lunches and dinners in beautiful restaurants, one of which was his own. On the last day, he prepared a Croatian delicacy in his yard, roasting a pig on a spit. It was an unusual experience for me of this Balkan custom of ours being celebrated in a Scandinavian city just as it would be if we did this in Cambridge.

In the morning, I am going to leave Baćo and Denmark. My visit having been full of joy and delight, first of all to a dear friend, and then to a wonderful Danish city Helsingǿr in the heart of Scandinavia along the shores of the North Sea.

Kristina

No usprkos tome on je danas izuzetno uspješan poslovni čovjek u Danskoj u kojoj živi već gotovo tri decenije.

S ljubavlju,

Kristina
